Much to Calvin's disappointment, we did not spend Friday night or Saturday in the city with him. One of the great things about living in Washington D.C. is that on top of everything to do within the city, there are just as many to do in the neighboring suburbs of Virginia and Maryland. This weekend we spent time in the suburbs of Maryland.
Friday
One of P's closest friends from Penn State, Catie, was visiting from Philly this weekend. She was staying with our friend Mike in Bethesda, Maryland. On Friday P and I met up with Mike, Catie, Arnab (Mike's roommate) and Jessie (Mike's sister) for yummy sushi and sake at Hanaro in the Woodmont Triangle area of Bethesda. After dinner we were in search of a bar with skee ball but had no luck. Instead we enjoyed drinks and dessert at American Tap Room in Bethesda Row.

Saturday
We had a full day on Saturday. P and I metro'd to Bethesda to carpool with Mike, Catie, and Arnab to Wine in the Woods in Columbia, Maryland. Wine in the Woods is a fun way to try wineries from across the region and is held at Merriweather Post Pavilion where P and I often go for concerts. While I did not try as much wine as I was hoping, it was a beautiful day to be outside and spending time with friends.

After almost 5 hours in the woods we headed back to DC to celebrate Jessie's 27th birthday. We ate at a delicious new Mexican restaurant that opened five blocks from our apartment called El Centro DF . P and I had tried it a few ago when it had first opened and were excited to go back again. After a tasty meal, refreshing margaritas, and singing "happy birthday" we finished the night at DC9's rooftop bar.

Sunday
I'm excited to say that I have no plans for today. P has to go to the office to finish some work and I'm hoping to do laundry, go to the gym, pick up groceries, and try a new spinach gnocchi recipe for dinner. And of course, spend some quality time with my sheltie in the city!
