Thursday Thoughts

Time for another edition of Thursday thoughts and other random ramblings.

  • I did not like Mockingjay (the third Hunger Games book) as much as the first two
  • I am not loving a lot of the clothing styles in stores right now. I have been looking for some fun, bright-colored tops for work and dinners but have not seen anything I loved. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places
  • I LOVE this wall of framed shopping bags! It's such fun, unique way to add some color and style in a bedroom or closet. I definitely recommend checking out Emily A. Clark - she has tons of great, inspiring ideas for the home
  • I'm looking forward to a quiet, low-key weekend at home hanging out with my boys
Hope you all have a great weekend!

Wedding Wednesday

The next thing on the wedding to-do list is to book a photographer. While we theoretically have plenty of time, we would like to get the photographer booked before P has to study for finals and begin preparing for the bar exam. That way once the summer of bar exam fun is over the photographer will be booked and we can take our engagement pictures.

Last Thursday we met with an amazing photographer. I already knew I loved her style and photos by looking at stalking her blog. In person she was just as awesome - energetic and eager to get to know us. After we left the meeting I kept thinking "ohmygod we have to book her!" But then I remembered we are meeting with two other photographers this week who take equally amazing pictures. One of the most challenging things for me in the wedding planning process is getting too attached to the people. While I know vendors are used to meeting with couples and not being booked, I still feel a sense of guilt if we don't choose them.

I hope by next week we will have selected which photographer is the best fit for us and our wedding and that I won't feel too bad when we don't choose the others.

Instagram and Bullets

The best way to capture what we've been up to in the past week is through Instagram pictures and bullets.

First pictures from Instagram........

P got a new accessory for the spring on Friday. We're hopeful
this bad boy will be coming off in 3 weeks

We enjoyed Friday's beautiful weather with dinner
outside and a Cherry Blossom Punch cocktail

I spruced up the dining room table with some new decorations for Easter

We took my dad and Sheila to the Newseum and still got to enjoy the
view from the 6th floor despite the overcast weather

Now the bullets....

  • We met with a wedding photographer last Thursday and will be meeting with two more this week. Hopefully we'll book one in the next few weeks and check another thing off the wedding to-do list
  • While dad and Sheila were in town we also had dinner on H St, brunched in Georgetown and showed them the reception venue space
  • We began our search for a new apartment by checking out a place near our current apartment. While it won't be our future home it felt good to start looking and we are hopeful we'll find something new soon
  • I joined a few of my favorite ladies to see Hunger Games this afternoon - it was just as good as the book. I cannot wait for Catching Fire to come to the big screen
  • Tonight we are eagerly awaiting the return of Mad Men. P and I are huge fans of Don Draper and the rest of his advertising team
I'm off to enjoy the last few hours of the weekend before another long work week begins!

Thursday Thoughts

Hey there! Hope you enjoy this week's edition of Thursday Thoughts...
  • Warm weather in March seems to automatically mean short shorts and barely there tops for many Washingtonians and tourists
  • Bacon is not a typical ingredient you would expect to find on the menu of a sushi restaurant, let alone on the floor. Unfortunately my friend Erin discovered this piece under our table with her foot
  • Dogs make great envelope lickers - it looks like Calvin has found his role in the wedding planning
  • Pastel colored jeans are not just a spring/summer trend for women this year...spotted at the previously mentioned sushi restaurant was a man sporting pale yellow jeans. Although not a favorite look of mine on men, this fashion forward fella was pulling them off
Sorry for the blurry image
  • It is perfectly acceptable to take afternoons off during the week to meet a friend for lunch, especially on a beautiful day when you can sit outside
  • Friday's take entirely too long to get here
Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Thursday Thoughts

Happy March....only 8 days late!

Here are some random Thursday thoughts and ramblings for this spring-like day:

  • This post would not be happening if it wasn't for one of my favorites who begged me for a new post - shout out to my girl Erin!
  • We're moving! The woman who owns the condo we've been renting the past two years has decided to sell. Don't worry my fellow Washingtonians, we're not leaving our beloved District. We're hoping to stay in the Logan Circle neighborhood but we are also open to Dupont, Columbia Heights, Woodley Park, and Georgetown. While I'm sad to leave our cute English basement digs I am excited for the possibility of a bigger kitchen and closet space!
  • This week I have finally been hitting the gym like a girl with two good knees and have been feeling pretty good. Although I have to admit that I had convinced myself it would be a breeze working out again and that I simply needed to build up the strength in my knee - I sort of forgot that the rest of my body would be out of shape after not working out for 8+ weeks.
  • After seeing these Baked Oatmeal Square Bars on another blog over the weekend I just knew I had to try them. I used dried cranberries, almonds, and substituted the oil with apple sauce. Not only did eliminating the oil make it healthier, I think the apple sauce gave it a nice extra kick of flavor. These have been great to grab in the morning for breakfast.
  • I gave up candy for Lent and can honestly say I have not had a single craving in the past few weeks. It's amazing how quickly your body adjusts to eliminating certain foods.
  • P just informed me there will be a House Hunters spin-off this fall on HGTV called House Hunters: Where Are They Now? I am so excited for this and will definitely be tuning in!
Like usual, I'm so happy tomorrow is Friday!
